Abu Dhabi, UAE – 21 April 2016: In what was another triumphant day in the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2016, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the IPIC Arena was abuzz with excitement as the Championship rounded off day three with even more hard-fought bouts.

The third day was honoured with the attendance of Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi: Director General of Abu Dhabi Education Council and Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qassimi

Proving that each day of action at the Championship is unmissable, today’s match of returning champion Black belt Mackenzie Dern saw a surprising upset when she lost against upcoming Brazilian Brown belt Tayane Porfirio in today’s female Open Weight competition.

As it stands in the medal table after day three of competition Brazil sit top of the pile with 10 medals, Sweden sit in a comfortable second and Kazakhstan are a close third.

Speaking on another momentous day at the IPIC Arena, said Yousef Al Batran, Board Member of the UAEJJF, said:

“Proving to be the biggest and best Championship to date, the eighth edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship has provided more thrills and spills than ever before and what’s more we still have two jam-packed days of competition left in this years’ five-day Championship. New to this year the five-day format has not disappointed as every day has seen a new twist and kept fans on the edge of their seats in this Jiu-Jitsu masterclass.”

Running every day across the Championship and through April 24th in 2016 is the ever-popular expanded IPIC Fan Zone with a plethora of fun-for-all activities and interactive stands that will keep fans of all ages entertained from start to finish. In conjunction with the host of activities, and action on the mat, is the tantalising raffle draw which gives attendees to the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship the chance to win one of three amazing prizes.
