Abu Dhabi, UAE – 20 April 2016: As day two of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2016, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, roared into life at the IPIC Arena fervent fans witnessed more than 1,752 players going head-to-head for ultimate glory on what was the most enthralling day of competition yet.
With proceedings now in full swing the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship welcomed a further 1752 competitors from more than 80 nationalities to the mat in with male players competing in the Masters 1 White belt category with Open Weight and Masters 2 White, Blue and Purple belt categories with Open Weight. In what was a truly unforgettable day for the fans, the players and members of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, fan favourite Ibrahim Mohamed Almaazmi of the UAE National Team overpowered his opponents to claim Gold in the 62kg White belt, Master 2 division.
Commenting on the day’s play and what’s to expect from the remainder of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2016, Mr Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, CEO and board member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said:
“Another day of breathtaking competition is now behind us and we can reflect on what has been a memorable two days at the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship for competitors and fans alike. With extraordinary, world-beating performances from both our male and female competitors, it has certainly provided our ever-growing fans with a million and one reasons to cheer their Jiu-Jitsu heroes all the way to the top. We hope that in the final three days of competition our players can continue to compete at the highest level and show the world what the UAE has to offer and truly demonstrate why Abu Dhabi is the global Capital of Jiu-Jitsu.”

We hope through these initiatives we can educate the fans from around the world about important issues that face us every day and make sport synonymous with these causes.”
This week has seen exciting performances and talent on display within the IPIC Fan Zone theatre as daily performances from Iftah Ya Simsim, the Abu Dhabi Police Music Band and the Abu Dhabi Police Dog Show have thrilled the crowds and demonstrated a wide array of talent. More performances are still to coming over the next four days, with the IPIC Fan Zone staying open past the final day of on mat competition until Sunday, April 24th.
Further to all the incredible activities that the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship has to offer in 2016, attendees will also have the opportunity to take part in a raffle draw that could see them win one of three amazing prizes.
